How to read between the
lines
The way one plays
tennis is dictated by one's personality, very rarely will you find a
risk taker hitting moon balls on the baseline hoping his opponent
misses, but instead they will be shot makers, going for broke near
the lines as hard and as often as possible.
Although not an
exact science, you can learn about the player's personality by their
likes and dislikes on the tennis court, here are some of the
questions that may give you an idea about your possible match.
The favorite and
least favorite past and current players is a big clue giver. If
Martina Navratilova is your favorite player of all time and this
person picks her as his least favorite player of all time, we then
have a problem, time to decide if you want to test the "opposites
attract" theory?
Then there's the
grunting question, if I'm a guy and I see a profile by a lady who
chooses option, "the louder the better", I'm answering to her
profile in a NY minute.
There's the other
side also, let's say I'm a girl and a guy responds to the attire
question by choosing the option, "I'm always the best dressed player
on the court", I would think twice about replying to him.
Another important
question is how often do you play tennis, if a profile says, "I
include it in my plans when I have nothing to do", you would have to
question that person's love for tennis.
But I truly believe
that a tennis match on the court, may it be singles or doubles is
the best way to determine initial compatibility, you will see the
person in different situations,
how prepared is he?
Did he bring new balls?
How's his equipment?
Is he in shape?
How does he handle pressure situations?
Is he a jerk on the court?
How competitive is he?
Must he win all the time to be happy?
Psychological tests
can't determine compatibility, but actual on on one interaction
will, and nothing beats a couple sets of tennis. Reading between
what happens between the (tennis) lines is never more apropos then
on the tennis court.
Post your profile,
respond, setup some matches, great first date, you will be doing an
activity that you enjoy even if the potential mate is not up to par.
is on your first date.
