Brief history of tennis Australia

Tennis Australia was formed in 1904 with the main purpose of placing Australian players in the Davis Cup competition, later the association created a national tournament which is today one of the four major tournaments of tennis.

Along with the US, Australia dominated Davis Cup during the 40's to the 70's.

Past champions include Roy Emmerson, Ken Rosewall, and the person who some regard as the greatest of all time, Rod Laver

Current champions include Lleyton Hewitt and Patrick Rafter
